Kudu Lamp with hand-carved Ostrich Egg

Lamps and lighting are an important but often overlooked element of design, and one of the hardest to get right when you put together an African-themed layout in any household or location.

This lamp made with Kudu bone, worked buffalo horn and carved ostrich eggs, is a distinctive, authentic piece that can act as a central point or used to augment an area of African design, bringing the essence of the savannah to your home.

The hand-carved Ostrich eggs are each unique, and works to be appreciated in themselves. The egg is placed over the lightbulb, giving a warm glow which emulates the dawn in the wilds.

Together, these individual elements work together to make each unique piece a wonderful addition to your home.

Asili Designs’ business philosophy is to ensure that all products it sells are sourced environmentally and ethically through proper channels, and we have written statements of compliance from all our suppliers; we would not work with them if this was not in place.

To Asili Designs, ‘ethically sourced’ means that the animals are treated in a humane manner, fully compliant with international standards and local laws. Crucially, it also means to us that no unnecessary destruction of the environment took place in order for us to receive these materials; the zebra skins were all sourced through legal culling operations, and were tanned at a tannery recognised and authorised by the State Veterinary of South Africa in compliance with international standards. This also serves to confirm that Game Skin purchased from ourselves were tanned and treated with bactericide (Busan 2044/1220/72).
